The Best Juicing Ingredients
73Where to Start
What are the best juicing ingredients? You can juice almost anything, but what are some good combinations? Well there is no right answer, but a solid foundation to your juicing diet can revolve around apples and carrots.
Apples and Carrots
Apples and carrots are by far the most common juicing ingredients. They have a sweet pleasant taste we are probably very familiar throughout our childhoods. I know I was frequently given apple slices to eat as a kid, and on occasion, a carrot stick to gnaw on (and pretend I'm Bugs Bunny...you know you did too...)
Both apples and carrots have a strong composition and are full of juice, making them easy for your juicer to handle, whether it be a centrifugal juicer or an auger juicer (though other fruits and vegetables that are softer or have very little juice can pose problems.) This is great because it's a lot easier to drink apple and carrot juice than it is to eat the produce itself. Carrots are tough vegetables to chew. Apples are tough also, and some types of apples have a texture that is not appealing at all. To me, I don't like red delicious because they have an overly gritty texture.
Simply Delicious
Many fruit and vegetable juicing recipes use apples and carrots not only for their amazing health benefits, but also they add a delightfully sweet taste to any glass of juice. The simplest recipes is, of course, apple and carrot juice. The recipe is as follows:
Carrot Apple Ginger Juice
- 2 apples
- 4 carrots
- 1/2 inch ginger root
- People new to juicing should add less ginger to see what it tastes like. It is quite potent.
That's it! This will yield a hearty glass of juice in a matter of seconds that will boost your system day in and day out. This will certaintly not break the bank either, as the price of carrots and apples is very low at any supermarket!

I am a juicer, I love the carrot apple blend.
Apples and Carrots are a great base to start on. I add a bunch of stuff - Kale, Broccoli, Cucumber, celery, Lime, Kiwi, Orange - and usually all in the same batch. Turns out quite sweet and delicious.

Hi Juicerlove,
Apples and Carrots are definitely a staple in my juicing arsenal but my number one ingredient is cucumber because it has so much water content that you get more juice!
